Since its earliest use, concrete has captured the imagination of engineers, architects and artists alike. Ove Arup’s enthusiasm for reinforced concrete is well known. His time as graduate engineer with Christiani and Nielsen in the early 1920s exposed him to the work of Le Corbusier and other Modernist designers who regarded concrete as the building material of the future. In the spirit of their enthusiasm, this exhibition was about the innovative use of concrete across the disciplines of art, architecture and engineering.
